How does the ingredient work?
The active ingredient Finasterid is used for the treatment of hormone-related hair loss of the male type (androgenetic alopecia).
Androgenetic alopecia, which is the most common form of hair loss, occurs due to an inherited hypersensitivity of the hair roots (also called hair follicles) to the male sex hormone Dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Finasterid inhibits the production DHT from its pre-stage Testosterone. Therefore the harmful effect of DHT on the hair follicles will be avoided.
The application of Finasterid is only useful and effective for this specific form of hair loss and is only for use by men. Finasterid not only inhibits the continuation of hair loss but it also supports the growth of new hair. After about one year, a visible effect can be observed. Nevertheless, an effect for the treatment of a receding hairline has not been proven.
